La Reserve de Leoville Barton 2018 is deep garnet purple in color. It offers cedar, vanilla, and tobacco to start, followed by a core of ripe blackcurrants and boysenberry preserves. Medium to full-bodied, it is a little leathery and chewy in the mouth, with a rustic finish.

The 2018 La Réserve de Léoville-Barton is effusive and boisterous right out of the gate. The estate's second wine offers tons of immediacy, with scents of blueberry, pencil shavings, lavender and menthol open in the glass. The tannins are just a bit drying on the finish, so I would drink this sooner rather than later.
