critic reviews
Medium to deep garnet colored, the 2012 Talbot has a perfumed nose of kirsch, dried roses, and cinnamon stick over a core of blackcurrant preserves and cloves. The medium-bodied palate delivers bright, lively red and black fruits with a grainy texture and lifted finish.
The 2012 Talbot has a well-defined bouquet with slightly ferrous red fruit, touches of truffle and undergrowth. The palate is medium-bodied, lighter than its peers but well defined and framed by fine tannins. There is a pleasant piquant touch on the finish. Drink now and over the next five to eight years. Tasted blind at the Southwold Ten-Year On tasting.
A juicy style of wine, Talbots 2012 has a dense ruby/purple color, plenty of black and red currant fruit, a touch of plum, soft tannin and a spicy, medium-bodied mouthfeel. It is excellent, with no hollowness or astringency. This is a very successful wine in this vintage and should drink well for 15-20 years.
