Corton Clos du Roi

An individual and highly respected climat of Corton Grand Cru, the name literally translates as “The Walled Vineyards of the King”. Despite it´s location high on the Corton hill, most of the wines produced from this climat are made from Pinot Noir, covering almost 11 hectares of iron-tinged, marlstone soils. Many of Burgundy´s top names produce wine here, including Domaine de Montille, who produce a particularly vivid, structured and long-lived expression of Corton Clos du Roi. The earthy, savoury nature of the soil shines through transparently in the wines, even in their youth, though patient cellaring will reward those willing to wait.
