Bachelet Monnot
Bourgogne, Rouge, 2014
justerini & brooks tasting note
A really smart and polished Bourgogne rouge of great pedigree; half of this is declassified Santenay and Maranges, half is Bourgogne from old vines in the Hautes Côtes, aged in 20% new oak barriques - full of suave forest berry flavours and juicy pretty red and dark fruits.

The 2014 Bourgogne Rouge had been racked two weeks prior to my visit. Matured in 20% new oak, it has a fine bouquet with plenty of raspberry preserve and cranberry aromas. The palate feels soft and rounded in the mouth with fine volume, good acidity and quite a plush finish in the making. This could be just a lovely red Burgundy once in bottle.
