Bourgogne, Rouge, 2020
If there is a better value red Burgundy out there, we have not seen it! Lovely bright and juicy red fruit. This treads a fine balance of articulate yet seductive fruit. Fine, energetic and charming; beautifully ripe red berry and cherry "Pinot" characteristics, underlined by the most tremendous sense of light and translucence. This is in fact one third declassified Maranges villages, one third declassified Hautes Cotes de Beaune and one third Bourgogne from the Puligny commune. 20% whole bunch fermentation. Aged in 25% new oak barrels.
critic reviews
Racked the week prior to my visit, the 2020 Bourgogne Rouge is a one-third blend of Hautes-Côtes, Puligny and Maranges-based parcels. It offers vivid red cherry and cranberry scents on the nose. The palate is quite crunchy in texture, in a positive way, and well balanced with a fine bead of acidity. Touches of orange zest appear toward the finish. Very promising.
