Domaine Claude Dugat

Established in 1955 by Claude and Marie-Thérèse Dugat, Domaine Claude Dugat is recognised as one of Gevrey-Chambertin’s leading producers. This small, family-owned domaine is now in the capable hands of Claude and Marie-Thérèse’s children—Bertrand, Laetitia, and Jeanne—who continue the proud family tradition of crafting wines that reflect the unique terroir of their vineyards.

Covering just six hectares, Domaine Claude Dugat practises sustainable viticulture, never using fertilisers or herbicides. Their approach is minimal intervention, with the family meticulously selecting the harvest date by taste, ensuring the grapes are picked at the perfect moment of ripeness. By focusing on old vines and low yields, they achieve wines with remarkable concentration, intensity, and freshness.

Once harvested, the grapes are 100% destemmed and fermented in concrete tanks. Gentle punch downs are used to enhance tannin and colour extraction, followed by malolactic fermentation in barrel. The wines are then aged in oak for at least 12 months before being bottled without fining or filtration. Spending two winters in the domaine’s cellars allows the wines to clarify naturally.

Domaine Claude Dugat’s Bourgogne Rouge is crafted from vines within Gevrey-Chambertin and is designed for early enjoyment, having aged just over 12 months in one-year-old barrels. The Gevrey-Chambertin captivates with its floral aromas of violets and blackberries, leading to a palate that balances intensity, depth, and silkiness—a hallmark of the domaine’s distinctive style.
