The 2023 Volnay En Champans 1er Cru has a straightforward redcurrant- and cranberry-scented bouquet, tertiary and slightly Pommard-like in style. The palate has good density, weighty in the mouth if maybe just missing some finesse and precision towards the finish. Still, it should age well in bottle. Fine…but I think there is better to come.
