Rully, Blanc, Clos Saint-Jacques, 1er Cru, 2023
More tightly wound than the Chaigne, with some very high-quality toast notes over a butter and citrus character. Mouthwatering on the palate, with great energy and a fabulous, palate staining finish that shows of a real salinity, alongside smart zesty citrus notes, smoked stones and salt. Pretty gorgeous. Catch it while you can! Another Domaine de la Folie Monopole. A splendid, east-facing stony vineyard of vines aged between 70 and 80-years old. Aged in oak barrels, 20% of which are new.
critic reviews
The 2023 Rully Clos St. Jacques 1er Cru comes from a 1.69-hectare monopole and was matured in 20% new oak. It has a very aromatic bouquet with tropical fruit, passion fruit and touches of white peach. There is wonderful definition and vigor here. The palate is well balanced with a silver thread of acidity and notes of lemon thyme and orange pith, very harmonious on the finish. This is an excellent Clos Saint-Jacques (not from Gevrey!).
