    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note
Domaine de la Folie, Rully, Rouge, Clos de Bellecroix, 2021

Another new departure as 20% of this was aged in used barrels, where previously the wine was aged exclusively in tank – the aim being to maintain the refreshing nature of the cuvée but add a little extra polish. Full of translucent yet juicy red fruits, this is extremely pretty, very Pinot, and seems to have a more elongated finish than normal. The experiment worked! An east, north-east facing vineyard planted on clay and limestone soils. Ageing is predominantly in tank, with a small percentage of used barrels, to give a light and pure expression of Rully.

The 2021 Rully Clos de Bellecroix, which for the first time saw 25% raised in used barrels, has a breezy, delightful, pure bouquet with Morello cherry and crushed strawberry. The palate is medium-bodied with a little more structure and rondeur than previous vintages, fresh with a graphite-tinged finish. Lovely.
