Chapelle Chambertin, Vieilles Vignes, Grand Cru, 2018
justerini & brooks tasting note
Aerating an initially muted nose reveals some very fine floral violet and blueberry notes. The palate is less shy, however, being packed full of punchy, direct flavours of bilberry, bramble and sloe. The 2018 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru has a much bolder and more expressive nose compared to the Charmes-Chambertin, offering copious blackberry, raspberry and crushed chalk aromas that burst from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin and a fine bead of acidity. Harmonious right to the end, delivering more depth and substance than the Charmes-Chambertin. Excellent.
