Morey St Denis, La Riotte, 1er Cru, VV, 2018
Reticent at first and we remember this being the most backward in the cellar at the time due to it being the last in the range to finish it's malolactic fermentation. Open the bonnet and you have a really fine-tuned engine inside. Firm, fresh and focused, this offers pin-point flavours of cherry, victoria plum and crushed stones. There is something beautifully wild and rugged to this, it's energy is thrilling and prolongs the vivid finish.

The 2018 Morey-Saint-Denis La Riotte 1er Cru has a crisp, classically styled, crushed rock and slightly chalky bouquet, the tightly coiled red and black fruit overshadowed by that stony facade. The palate conveys a lot of nascent energy, offering bright red berries laced with blood orange and brown spices, and leading to a precise and very persistent finish. Superb.
