Chambolle Musigny, Aux Combottes, 1er Cru, 2023
Richer, smoother and more immediately seductive than the Morey, with a lovely brightness to it nonetheless, ripe red berry, mulberry and Victoria plum fruit, floral on the finish with rich notes of griotte and kirsch.
critic reviews
The 2023 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Combottes is one of the tauter, more structured wines in the range this year, offering up aromas of raspberries and plums mingled with rose petals, orange zest and musky spices. It is medium to full-bodied, lively and mineral, with powdery tannins that assert themselves on the finish.
The 2023 Chambolle-Musigny Les Combottes 1er Cru has a fragrant bouquet, more floral than the Clos de la Bussière, with blackcurrant pastille, wild mint and light sous-bois scents. It is quite complex and well defined. The palate is brisk and energetic on the entry, with fine and quite saturated tannins. Blood orange notes lend a soupçon of exoticism toward the persistent finish. This is superb.
