    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note

A lovely, cool, tense but lacy Chambolle. Fine but taut, crunchy fruit notes of pomegranate and red cherry with a hint of salt and spice. Radiant and sunny with a firming grip and focus. Perfectly poised. A vineyard with relatively poor soils, situated just below Fuees. The vines are now 60 years old. Ghislaine was fortunate enough to buy this vineyard from Pousse d'Or in 2009.

The 2023 Chambolle-Musigny Les Gruenchers 1er Cru has a little reduction on the nose, yet one can still detect the very finely delineated ripe strawberry and cranberry scents coiled up alongside hints of orange pith and potpourri. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins. It has a notch more in the way of ripeness and opulence, with a tad candied on the finish hinting at slightly later-picked fruit, though it retains control on the peppery finish that falls away a little quicker than Barthod's other cuvées.
