Joseph Drouhin
Corton-Charlemagne, Grand Cru, Maison Joseph Drouhin, 2024
justerini & brooks tasting note
Silky, bright and subtly rich, with bergamot cream, white Saturn peach and hazelnut. Rock salt, lemon droplets, nutty-citrus cut and a sense of breadth balanced by energy. A lovely, complete Corton-Charlemagne.

The 2024 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru has an intense bouquet, austere at first, with touches of orchard fruit emerging with time, though it remains quite backward. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity. Quite tensile and mineral-driven, it just needs to develop the texture that I suspect will emerge during the second winter in barrel.
