Justerini & Brooks Tasting note

Spontaneous fermentation notes frame a pure, powerful palate, full of herbs and salt and mineral notes. An impressive trocken built on a core of savoury, stony Brauneberg flavours.

David Schildknecht,
Vinous
At 13 grams of residual sugar, this strikes much the same balance of supportive but well-hidden sweetness as prevailed with the corresponding “Brauneberger Tradition” bottling. (The word feinherb appears in minuscule print, as does the even more misleading “semi-dry,” but it is no longer prominently displayed.) It reflects one picking late in September and another early in October, after most of the grapes from Grosses Gewächs had already been harvested at marginally lower must weights, yet the combination has yielded a Riesling with coolingly green herbal suggestions and brightly juicy apple and lime, one that its author quite rightly credits with “particular finesse and elegance.” The feel is silken and glossy and the impressively sustained finish invigoratingly tangy as well as admirably transparent to wet stone underpinnings.
