Brauneberger Juffer Sonnenuhr, Riesling, Auslese, Goldkap, 2012
justerini & brooks tasting note
This too has approximately 50% botrytised berries but you would be hard pressed to guess that. The first thing that that hits you is a pucker of savoury Brauneberger slate and a touch of smoke. Very clear and very pale in colour, quite closed initially yet highly elegant in structure and not heavy at all. Red apples, acacia honey, golden fresh apricots, elegantly defined and beautifully detailed. The total finesse of this means it is a Goldcap that whispers at you, but whispers at you for a very long time.
