Barolo, 2013
Sweetly-scented fruit with a bold, spicy and savoury side too. The flavours are fresh and fruity, notes of small, black and red berry with a hint of liquorice. A compelling and generous blend that offers surprising complexity for a "regular" Barolo. Made from a selection of grapes from 45 yo vines across five different Crus from the Castiglione (30% percent) and Serralunga (70%) communes, a big part of which is Cerretta. The wines is aged in large slavonian oak "botti" / barrels, so there is very little oak influence on this wine.
critic reviews
Azelia's 2013 Barolo is a gorgeous, entry-level offering. Orange peel, cinnamon, rose water, herbs, sweet red berries and mint give the 2013 its distinctive, lifted personality. Silky and gracious, the 2013 is super-expressive today. The style is very much built on mid-weight structure and aromatics. This is a terrific introduction to the year.
