Smart and intense, more exotic aromatically after the Rabaja, textured and layered, with notes of spice, citrus and crushed red fruits, all cushioned by an extra level of wood texture from a newer cask and a classy spine of shimmering acidity. A selection from an older plot of vines in a prime south facing location. Fermented with submerged cap and long macerations, aged for three years in traditional 25hl cask.

The 2019 Barolo Riserva Monvigliero is elegant and nuanced, with crushed red berry fruit, inner perfume, hard candy and mint. Now with more than a year in bottle, this remains pretty tightly wound. I would sit on the 2019.
