Barolo Bric dël Fiasc [Library Release 2026], 2006
The same vineyard as Azelia’s Bricco Fiasco but named using the Piedmontese dialect. A very serious less playful nose than that of Carobric, high toned and highly sophisticated, initially a little reserved, this is a wine that doesn't share its whole character with you at once, rather it gradually reveals itself bit by bit. After a few minutes in the glass its full potential starts to be revealed, exhibiting cool dark ripe forest berry fruits, intense and refreshing minerals, hints of undergrowth and herb with a lovely ripe black cherry, sloe, bramble and damson fruit ripeness, hugely profound, polished and utterly gripping.
critic reviews
The 2006 Barolo Bric del Fiasc is a dramatic, sweeping wine that bursts onto the palate in a powerful expression of this Castiglione Falletto vineyard. Dark red fruits, smoke and grilled herbs are just some of the nuances that come to life as this imposing, focused Barolo opens up in the glass. Today, the wine is a touch austere, but in a few years the structure should fill out nicely. It is impossible to ignore the sheer pedigree and class here.
