Unbelievably silky and floral, this is very much the vineyard character coming through and dominating the vintages characteristics. Rich, smooth and suave but bright and floral with it; fine flavours of cherry, richer touches of griotte and cool forest berry notes. One of the historical Cru of the Verduno commune, Scavino have a wonderful parcel of 50-year-old vines in the chalk and limestone based Monvigliero vineyard.

Reticent dark fruit aromas complicated by licorice and flowers. In a rather cool, medicinal style for 2009, showing sweet black fruit flavors but less depth and personality than the Bricco Ambrogio. Today the wine's chewy, dusty tannins clash with its acidity, leaving the persistent finish distinctly tight. Seems only moderately ripe for the vintage.
