Tasting Note:

An inviting ripe red fruit and alpine herb nose. The palate is sensual and sumptuous but bright - creamy griotte cherry fruit and fresh herbs. Svelte and ripe but vivid and with a salty and sapid element. More curvaceous and generous than usual without losing that translucent jewel like fruit. A beauty! This is the historic red cuvée from Domaine du Pélican, produced since their inaugural vintage, in 2012. A blend of Pinot Noir, (60%), Trousseau (35%) and Poulsard (5%), hence the name Trois Cépages. The vineyards from which this cuvée is produced are all located in the village of Montigny-les-Arsures, where the winery also sits. The soil consists of grey and black marls, partially covered with fallen rocks. The vineyards broadly face West, at an altitude between 300 and 400 metres. Elevage is in Burgundy barrels (two thirds) and foudres.
