Hemel en Aarde Valley

Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, literally “Heaven and Earth”, is a wine-producing Ward and Wine of Origin appellation in the Walker Bay district in the Western Cape of South Africa. With vineyards sitting 300m above sea level and channelling the cool Ocean breezes into the valley, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir thrive here in its maritime climate. The soils are diverse and vary from shale, to sandstone, to granite, with a large clay content that brings to mind some of the grand vineyards of Burgundy. Some of South Africas most ambitious and accomplished winemakers are here, with Storm Wines perhaps the most celebrated of all.
