Restrained and briny on the nose with crisp red fruit and a fine boned, bristling structure on the palate, the 2006, after an hour, fleshes out on the mid-palate proffering sweet, succulent flavours of fresh red cherry, blackberry, strawberry and raspberry with notes of earth, leather and bitter cocoa. Time will help resolve a certain strictness in the wine and yet it is still dazzling now for its ferrous, salty finish, that has become a hallmark of Tondonia. This is authentic traditional Rioja at its very best and will delight purists who seek authenticity, character and age-worthiness in their wines. Simply a must-have release from one of Spain’s most revered producers. Keep this in the cellar for a decade and it will unfurl to become a truly special Rioja.

Contains Sulphites.

Appellation: Rioja

Spains most famous wine growing region is seeing something of a revolution. A band of new producers are shunning the traditional methods of production in a effort to gain greater purity of fruit, less dominant oak influence, and individual terroir characteristics. The results are wines that have the ability to age and improve in bottle, that have finesse, character and real elegance.
