Sonoma Coast, Chardonnay, 2019
Crisp finger lime and buttered popcorn. Lovely delineation here with extract and grip bringing great freshness to the overall impression. Lemon cream, sweet pastry and touches of exotic yellow fleshed fruit, you sense that one to two years in bottle this is going to be singing with salty stone fruits and sweet citrus. As ever this is produced entirely from declassified single vineyard fruit, with a new cool Freestone vineyard called Zephyr in the blend. Qualitatively this is on a par with the single vineyards, it is simply less singular. Fermented with just 20% new oak, aged for 12 months in barrel and six months in tank.

The 2019 Chardonnay Sonoma Coast has inviting aromas of baked quince, pie crust, roasted almonds, meringue, beeswax and lime peel. Medium-bodied, satiny and concentrated, it offers expansive flavors, seamless yet energetic acidity and a persistent, flavorful finish.
The 2019 Chardonnay (Sonoma Coast) is an absolute delight. Bright, fresh and beautifully lifted, the Sonoma Coast Chardonnay brings together so many of the elements that make the Ferren wines so appealing. Orange confit, spice, white flowers, mint and chamomile are all laced together, framed by bright saline notes that invite a second taste. Terrific.
