Black Walnut, Worden Hill, Dundee Hills, Pinot Noir, 2016
A touch more toast and dark spice on the nose, then on the palate a wave of suave supple dark fruit, a touch of earth then mulberry and cherry, very silky tannins here, but this core of dark earth and sweet volcanic minerality. Plump but fresh and finishing with a long tapered finale. An 0.4 ha section of a 10 acre site, on weathered oxidised red basalt rock at 900 ft elevation.
critic reviews
Shimmering red. Powerful black raspberry, cherry liqueur and potpourri scents, along with hints of incense and exotic spices. Fleshy and concentrated but strikingly lively as well, offering palate-staining red/blue fruit, floral pastille and spicecake flavors that are sharpened by a spicy white pepper flourish. Finishes bright, floral and extremely long, with resonating spiciness, fully integrated tannins and a lingering cherry note.
