Bordeaux 2024: Lafite, Carruades and Duhart

The release of Lafite Rothschild is always eagerly anticipated. This year it takes on added significance. In an uncertain en primeur market, consumers, merchants and chateaux are looking for leadership. Lafite has taken it upon itself to steer this campaign with the early release of their 2024. Normally we’d be waxing lyrical about classic Cabernet aromas and statuesque tannins and all the qualities we associate with Bordeaux’s preeminent First Growth, but this year, most people are focussed on just one thing, fair value. And the encouraging news for drinkers, collectors and even investors is that Lafite has released at £1713 per 6, some 15% cheaper than any other available vintage on the market. This coupled with the fact that Lafite has made a very fine, elegant wine, full of noble, aromatic flavours, impeccable balance and haunting length bodes rather well.
