Bordeaux 2025: Round Up

We’re putting the finishing touches to this year’s Bordeaux en primeur campaign. Before everyone heads off to sunnier climes, we thought we’d do a quick round up of our three best buys from this fascinating vintage.

Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion One of the most singular and spectacular wines of the vintage, Guillaume Pouthier’s magnificent 2025 Les Carmes Haut-Brion is just stunning. Extraordinary purity and intensity and a haunting finish – this is a modern-day masterpiece, a glorious expression of vivid, fragrant whole cluster Cabernet Franc. A must buy at £429/6 IB.

Château Brane Cantenac Henri Lurton’s fabulous second growth Margaux is on top form in 2025. Such a vibrant and engaging style – you can’t help but be bowled over. This showcases the best of the vintage: glorious aromatics, a ravishingly pure core of fruit and delightful, nuanced tannins. A superb wine for £237/6 IB.

Château Canon Quelle surprise, Nicolas Audebert’s 2025 Château Canon is magnifique! This superb limestone terroir excels in hot vintages, producing wines with breathtaking aromatics, complex cores of fine fruit and minerals and ravishing saline finales. For us, this was one of if not the best St Emilions of the vintage, and it’s available at pretty much the same price as the 2024 (£435/6 IB)
