Here at Justerinis, we’re fortunate to be blessed with some of the wine world’s most finely tuned palates, with each wine on our list being ranked by our team as a benchmark of its type. But you needn’t just take our word for it –we’ve put together a case of wines that have also received the seal of approval from some of the trade’s pre-eminent Burgundy critics.
Château de Meursault’s Les Perrières, Meursault 1er Cru 2019 was marked 93-96pts by Burgundy authority Jasper Morris MW and 95pts by the Decanter World Wine Awards. The wine heralds from the finest holdings of the estate; a powerful, mineral, incredibly intense Meursault that displays an inner core of crushed stones, rock salt and herb characteristics, before an explosively rich finish of stone fruit, honey and woody spices that impressed the discerning Morris.
Decanter’s equally judicious Burgundy correspondent Charles Curtis MW gave Bruno Clair’s Les Grasses Têtes, Marsannay 2019 92pts – highly commendable given its modest price tag.
Our next choice also comes from Génot-Boulanger, with its Vieilles Vignes, Pommard 2019 – is a blend of Les Cras, Les Vignots and La Chanière crus and worthy of 91pts from Antonio Galloni who complemented its “well-defined and quite earthy bouquet of red berry fruit”. The palate, he added, is “well-balanced with crunchy red berry fruit laced with a splash of balsamic. The parcels ripened at different times due to variations in microclimates and that engendered a more complex Pommard. Fine salinity toward the finish and a minerally aftertaste. Very fine.”
Completing the line-up is a majestic Volnay 1er cru from Marquis d'Angerville which was given an 18/20 score by Jancis Robinson on first taste: “Big and bold on the nose – almost brash,” was her verdict. “Masses of fruit and brawn. Massive intensity and precision again. Polished tannins and a chewy, chalky finish. Pretty impressive with a green-apple note on the end.”
