“It’s always a good time for a Kabinett” – Jancis Robinson MW in the Financial Times

In her recent Financial Times article Why is German Kabinett so underappreciated?, Jancis Robinson MW celebrated Kabinett Rieslings for their unique charm, balance, and remarkable affordability, as well as the appeal of their naturally lower alcohol.

Having attended our German 2024 tasting in London, she described the Oberhäuser Leistenberg Riesling Kabinett 2024 from Dönnhoff as a “beautiful wine”. Priced at £100 per case IB, she awarded it her coveted Very Good Value (VGV) distinction and 17 points.

Other highlights included the “very serious…reverberant” Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Kabinett 2024 from "the ever-impressive" J. J. Prüm; Fritz Haag’s Brauneberger Juffer Riesling Kabinett which is described as “far too cheap! VGV”; and the Maximin Grünhauser Herrenberg Riesling Kabinett 2024 from the von Schubert family.
