The Singleton of Dufftown, Prima & Ultima Fourth Release, 37 Year Old, 1985

This whisky represents the last three remaining 1985 refill American oak casks from The Singleton of Dufftown Distillery. These casks were rediscovered following a change of ownership of a warehouse. As such they are the only remaining casks from that year, with every other cask having been long since blended or bottled as Single Malt. Lightly oily and smooth in texture, and slightly drying. A lightly sweet initial taste, mid-palate, then a spicier suggestion of salt, all briefly evoking a banana fritter. Easy to drink straight, and appreciably softer with water.
