The Singleton of Glen Ord, 40 Year Old, 1982
For the The Singleton 40-year-old grand finale, the deeply decadent malt began as a flavoursome 12 year old whisky, which Maureen Robinson transferred to a series of rum casks to double mature for nearly three decades. The Singleton 40yo, pushing boundaries of taste with an astonishingly-bold & pioneering 28 years secondary maturation experiment. To enhance the base notes of luscious dark chocolate and sun ripened fruit, Maureen married these whiskies in precious Solera casks of Zacapa XO and Royal Rum, for a luxuriously smooth expression – delicate, sweet, exotic andoutstandingly smooth. Our 40yo represents the culmination of that journey, and the ultimate expression of that belief. A maximalist in time, craft and flavour.

American Oak & European Oak, Finished in Solera Zacapa Royale and Zacapa XO Casks.
Decadently smooth and lightly waxy while the taste starts sweet, vibrant and very fruity, becoming slightly salty and plum sour mid-palate. Complex layers of flavour suggest pears slathered indulgently in dark chocolate and caramelised tropical fruits, as with toffee-covered banana and pineapple. Beautifully balanced and super-smooth, with sustained rich, sweet fruitiness balanced by slow-building black pepper. Velvet smooth dark chocolate tannins herald an appetising drying note.
