Tasting Note:

Denis Durantou is famed from his wonderful Pomerol estate, Chateau L'Eglise Clinet, but he has spread his wings to St Emilion, Lalande de Pomerol and Castillon and it is perhaps in these estates that he has best demonstrated his Midas touch. Year after year, the likes of La Chenade and Montlandrie have topped our best value poll, and now we are seeing Saintayme and Cruzelles there too. Produced from 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, the 2014 Cruzelles is arguably the most exuberant and impressive of Denis' wines (excluding L'Eglise Clinet). There are layers of hedgerow fruit, plum, crème de mûre, fine herbs, sandalwood and roasted coffee bean. This is large scale, decadent and very persistent. There's a huge amount of substance without any unattractive extract. Impressive.
