Pol Roger, Brut, 2013

Tasting Note:

A bright engaging, vivid nose that sees lemon spritz, lemon cream, essential citrus oils and crushed chalk notes emerging from the glass. This has a sense of purity and freshness that is lovely, if almost austere today, with a touch of fennel, white pepper spice, fresh mushroom and honeysuckle notes below the sparky citrus. The palate is tightly wound and crisp, but not without a certain depth to it, the mousse lively, but also fine. Bright acidity bolsters pithy citrus fruit, and again a sense of high toned freshness, grapefruit, lemon verbena, filo pastry, tarragon and salt. The Chardonnay dominates this chalky and pale yellow fruited rendition of vintage Pol at present Snappy stuff that deserves at least 5 years in the cellar to unwind. Should be lovely plus from 2025. Disgorged December 2019, dosage 8g/l.
