Delicate, elegant nose laden with mineral purity; wonderful balance and length on the palate, understated, beautifully smooth texture, layers of flavour and a light creamy freshness on a lingering finish - delicious!

The 2022 Doisy-Védrines has a pretty nose with dried honey, peach skin and beeswax scents that unfold in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with an unctuous opening. This feels very smooth, with better acidity than its peers and a brightness on the finish that is very appealing. Tasted blind at the Southwold tasting in London.

This presents an attractive nose of smoky crushed gravel and fresh matchstick notes, mixed with white peach and mirabelle. The palate follows up with a fresh, broad and supple presence, with fairly nicely concentrated fruits, swirled with an admirable sense of bitterness, and striking acidity for the vintage. Some creamed citrus fruits join the fray, but it is really the mineral, acid and phenolic elements that define and control the palate. An attractive, easy-going Barsac which does have the potential and structure to develop in bottle. Well done. Tasted twice. The alcohol on the label is 13%.

A ripe, complex and elegant bouquet of apricots, spices, saffron and pineapple introduce the 2022 Doisy-Vedrines, a medium to full-bodied, dense and enrobing Sauternes full of energy. With good depth at the core and a layered, deep mid-palate, it segues into a long, mineral and delicately apricot-driven finish. This blend of 90% Semillon, 8% Sauvignon Blanc and 2% Muscadelle will offer a broad drinking window and is a stunning effort, as it often is at this address. There are 162 grams per liter of residual sugar. It was picked from 3 October to 28 October in three tries and matured in one-third new barrels.

A blend of 90% Semillon, 8% Sauvignon Blanc, and 2% Muscadelle, the 2022 Doisy-Vedrines has 162 g/L of residual sugar. It is pale lemon-straw in color and it is very spicy on the nose, with scents of ginger ale, allspice, and anise springing from the glass, followed by hints of juicy apricots and pears, plus a touch of cedar. The palate is rich, decadently sweet, and unctuous, with a lively backbone and great length.
