    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note
Château Lalande Borie, St Julien, 2015

We fell for the charming Lalande Borie 2015 en primeur. It was without doubt the most seductive and pleasurable wine we've tasted from this plot near to Lagrange. Produced from 55% Merlot and 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, there's an exuberance to the fragrant bouquet: wild flowers, sweet plums, dried goji, alpine strawberry and blueberry. The palate is so seamless and generous it gave the impression that you could drink it straight away. Damsons, Kirsch, svelte purple fruit delight the palate with wave after wave of beautifully textured fruit. In addition to the natural generosity of the vintage, Bruno and his team have tamed any rusticity on the finish. The tannins are refined and harmonious. In short, it's a vivacious, quite luxuriant style of St Julien, which offers tremendous value for money. Drink now-2030.

    Château Lalande Borie

Château Lalande-Borie has belonged to the Borie family, owners of such top vineyards as Ducru Beaucaillou and Grand Puy Lacoste since 1970. Now managed by Ducru's owner Bruno Borie, the same energy has been spent here on improving quality as at the other properties. Lalande-Borie lies to the west of Ducru on a single plot of 25ha surrounded by well-known Crus Classés. The setting, higher in elevation and further back from the Gironde estuary, produces a wine with plenty of typical St Julien characteristics - rich cherry fruits, deep and smooth - but which matures a little quicker than the Grands Vins from the family's other properties.
