justerini & brooks tasting note

Denis Durantou's flagship wine is a contender for wine of the vintage. From a great terroir on the Pomerol plateau Eglise Clinet has produced many extraordinary wines. We were fortunate to taste past greats like the '29, '54, '55 and '64 but recent additions to the list such as '05, '09 and '10 will match and possibly surpass these in time. Which will be the best, well who knows; they're all sensational, you'll just have to have all three in your cellar... High toned notes of flowers, vivid red fruits; a smorgasbord of savoury, meaty and earth notes. The palate is prodigious with a well of mulberries, plums and black cherries; this possesses wonderful intensity and verve. Multilayered with a sensual texture that wows. A complete and utterly seductive Eglise Clinet that will delight drinkers for decades to come.

critic reviews

94.5/100Neal Martin,Vinous

The 2010 L’Eglise-Clinet comes across a little introverted and sullen on the nose compared to its peers in this very strong flight. It is attractive in its own way with pretty red berry fruit, briary and rose petals, but declines to reveal its complexity. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, slightly lactic in style, modern in the context of this Pomerol cru, but well balanced on the finish. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners 10-Year On Bordeaux horizontal.
