Château Meyney, St Estèphe, 2012
Meyney has entered a wonderful phase of its evolution with some exquisite graphite, soy, forest floor and cigar box notes. This overlays the still vibrant, succulent, blackberry, brambles, and red and black plum fruited profile.
critic reviews
The 2012 Meyney offers mainly red fruit on the nose laced with soy and peppery notes, moderate in terms of complexity. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins, quite structured with good weight, though it is missing some precision towards the finish that feels a tad bitter. Tasted blind at the Southwold Ten-Year On tasting.
This estate is quickly returning from a long period of mediocrity. This sleeper of the vintage exhibits a dense ruby/purple color in addition to copious notes of black raspberries, blueberries, loamy soil and roasted Provencal herbs. Medium to full-bodied, it should drink well for 10-12+ years.
