The 2015 TrotteVieille has an open-knit bouquet with maraschino cherries, fresh figs and brown spices. This flirts with Rhône-like scents. The palate is open-knit and medium-bodied with a savory entry, gentle grip and notes of black truffle and sage. It lilts towards the finish. This is open for business, but it will age well in bottle. Tasted blind at the 2015 Bordeaux Ten-Year-On tasting.
Medium to deep garnet colored, the 2015 Trotte Vieille opens with cedary overtones giving way to a core of stewed plums, blackberry preserves, and rose oil, plus hints of Sichuan pepper and smoked meats. The full-bodied palate is still very tightly wound, with firm, grainy tannins and just enough freshness to support the taut fruit, fishing long and earthy.
