Auxey Duresses

A village westwards of Meursault and Monthelie on the road towards St Romain and the Hautes Cotes. There are 9 premier crus vineyards established in Auxey Duresses. The reds can be very good, ranging from light and fruity, to powerful but sometimes rustic. The whites are particularly good value, rather like miniature Meursaults, less full-bodied and with higher acidity but carrying plenty of character and weight nonetheless.
