Maranges, Blanc, La Fussière, 1er Cru, 2017
There is real force here. Energetic flavours of limes and rocks with a nutty richness. Powerful but well-controlled by a racy acidity. Bags of terroir complexity. Very impressive. Fermentation and élevage take place in 350 litre barrels, with no bâtonnage, for 18 months. This comes from the higher part of the Fussière vineyard, where the poor soil is well suited to producing white wines.
critic reviews
The 2017 Maranges La Fussières 1er Cru Blanc has a simple but enjoyable nose with cooking apple and light flinty aromas, although it does not grab the attention like the 2018. The palate is well balanced with a pretty opening, fresh and lively, displaying moderate acidity and a faint oxidative note that I actually quite like toward the finish. Fine, but I would drink this in the short term.
