Maranges, Rouge, La Fussière, 1er Cru, 2017
Convivial, generous and fragrant. Open-knit flavours of wild strawberries, cherries and with a touch of violet. So juicy and red fruit-dominated, more so than previous vintages with complex herb and undergrowth notes. Earlier picking and less new oak have allowed for a more lively and delicate wine. Beautiful. Fermented with 25% whole bunches. a little more than in 2015, and rearing is in 25% new oak barrels.
critic reviews
Notions of ripe plums, berries, loamy soil and licorice introduce the 2017 Maranges 1er Cru La Fussiere, a medium to full-bodied, velvety wine with rich structuring tannins, a succulent core of fruit and juicy balancing acids. Pure and long on the finish, this hails from soils richer in clay and correspondingly more gourmand than the Clos de la Boutiere.
