Maranges, Rouge, La Fussière, 1er Cru, 2020
A tiny reduction on the nose that blows of quickly, leaving behind enticing floral red fruit and cherry blossom character. Juicy but elegant. Ripe red berries, cherries and damsons. Bright and refreshing with a chalky note that adds dimension to the wine and cleanses the finish. Fermented with nearly 50% whole bunches and rearing is in 25% new oak barrels.
critic reviews
The 2020 Maranges La Fussières 1er Cru Rouge, which contains slightly less whole bunch than the Village, has a more austere, well-defined, stony bouquet featuring dark berry fruit and touches of black tea. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy red berry fruit and slightly granular in texture, leading to a cohesive, sustained finish. Very classy, and I reckon this should be quite approachable thanks to its pliancy.
