Puligny-Montrachet, 2020

Available Vintages
justerini & brooks tasting note

Less immediate and more herbal, aromatically, than the Chassagne. Fruitier on the palate, less mineral. Fine and silky with citrus fruit tightly encased within a firm structure. Discrete, long and tapering finish. More reserved and less immediately loveable than the Chassagne but bags of potential. From numerous plots including a particularly fine parcel on a slope called les Meix, near the Grands Crus, next to Enseigneurs. Fermentation and élévage take place in 350 litre barrels, with no bâtonnage, for 12 months before six months in stainless steel.

90-92/100Neal Martin,Vinous

The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet Village has a well-defined nose of light honeysuckle and lime flower aromas, quite strict and mineral-driven. The palate is more expressive at the moment, with ample tension. Just the right amount of bitter lemon lends edginess on the finish. This has a bit of swagger, though it needs 3–4 years for the bouquet to really open. Very fine.
