Marsannay, Les Vaudenelles, 2021
A very pretty nose. Floral and sweet fruited with fine red berries and a touch of peach. Ultra-transparent in a lovely delicate backlit style. Not big, but oh so lovely and likely to drink well from the off. Fermented with 20% whole bunches and aged in predominantly used oak barrels. Vaudenelles is a relatively high Marsannay vineyard whose white marl soils produce fine grained elegant wines that can often be approached relatively young.
critic reviews
From white marl soils at the top of the slope, Clair's 2021 Marsannay Les Vaudenelles offers up scents of sweet red berries, plums and petals. Medium-bodied, supple and melting, with a pure core of fruit, lively acids and a saline finish, it's an elegant, fine-boned red in the making.
The 2021 Marsannay Les Vaudenelles has a fragrant bouquet with rose petal tinged red fruit - fine delineation and focus. The palate is sappy on the entry, pliant tannins with an appealing pure, lilting finish.
