Cecile Tremblay
Nuits St Georges, Aux Murgers, 1er Cru, 2017
justerini & brooks tasting note
A Nuits vineyard on the Vosne side of the appellation and it shows. Silky-smooth if quite broad and fleshy. Layered, rounded notes of hedgerow berry plum earth and sweet spices. Seductive and enveloping. Curvaceous and mouth-filling but full of class.

The 2017 Nuit Saint-Georges Les Murgers 1er Cru was showing some reduction on the nose, but there appears to be plenty of fruit stacked underneath. The palate is very well balanced, with orange sorbet tincturing the bright red fruit. There is good backbone to this Les Murgers, which delivers gentle but insistent grip and an impressive, attacking finish. This is often one of my pet favorites from Cécile Tremblay, and this year is no different.
