Very savoury and surly initially cool crushed rock notes, you get a lot more from this the longer its open. Initially tighter and more focused than the Clos de la Roche, certainly more serious and longer. The fruits gradually comes to the fore and equalises the chalky, stony character so typical of this vineyard’s wines. Notes of red cherry and redcurrant, ripe and svelte with a gently bite of chalk and crushed rocks. Long refined, pure and focused on the long finish. A vineyard that produces wines of distinct personality, always on the rockier more mineral and austere side of the spectrum. They can be a little taciturn on first approach but age seamlessly and gracefully given the chance.
