Aged in 100% new oak but you don’t feel it all. Vibrant, silky flavours dance ballerina-like across the palate. Smooth, effortless loganberry, bramble and black cherry fruit with savoury crushed stone notes. Polished but super-focused and vital. A high-toned Vosne well situated next to Grands Echézeaux and opposite Musigny. From a parcel of 50 year-old vines.

The 2017 Vosne-Romanée En Orveau 1er Cru has a very floral nose that rather occludes the terroir expression and even the fruit profile. The palate is refined with good body, a fine bead of acidity and just the right amount of dryness. Sapid and quite persistent in the mouth; once that floral component on the nose recedes, this will be a lovely Vosne-Romanée. This is very mercurial, especially aromatically. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting.
