A quiet, brooding, smoky and stony reduction on the nose belies the sheer brilliance and energy of the palate. Intense but very fine, offering lacy, cool, mineral-licked blueberry and sloe fruit with hints of crushed stone and oyster shell. Stunning. A high-toned Vosne well situated next to Grands Echezeaux and opposite Musigny. From a parcel of 50 year old vines.

The 2020 Vosne-Romanée En Orveaux 1er Cru has a vivacious bouquet, red cherries mixed with raspberry preserve and crushed stone aromas, later, wilted rose petals. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red berry fruit, fine acidity, quite structured and "correct" on the Morey-like finish. Not a flamboyant Vosne-Romanée, but well-crafted.
