Pouilly-Fuissé, Les Grands Climats, 2024
A touch of new oak lends a subtle covering to the wine’s orchard-fruited core. Riper in tone, flowing and generous, with notes of apricot, pear and yellow plum. The acidity feels rounder and more integrated here, giving a sense of calm balance and measured amplitude. Blended from numerous parcels, primarily limestone, with some marne and clay.

The 2024 Pouilly-Fuissé Les Grands Climats, a blend of parcels raised in oak barrels (30% new) and stainless steel, is very pure and elegant on the nose, with hints of peach skin and white flowers and just a hint of nougat tucked in just behind. The palate is quite nutty, a little smoky on the entry, with fine tension and a welcome touch of bitterness that keeps it on its toes towards the finish. This will be difficult to resist in its youth, but it will age well in bottle.
