Pouilly Fuissé, Vieilles Vignes, 2020
From a blend of vines aged over 55 years old planted on limestone-influenced clay soils. Aged in fut only. More classic Pouilly-Fuissé than the Grands Climats, richer and plumper - fleshy yellow plum and ripe pear fruit set in a buttery, melt in the mouth texture. Full-bodied, deep with a mixture of exquisite clear, ripe fruits and an earthier, more savoury undertow.
critic reviews
The 2020 Pouilly-Fuissé Vielles Vignes comes from shale and marn soils, the average vine age around 65-years, with part of the crop completely vinified and raised in barrel. This has a more elegant and almost "airy" bouquet compared to the Les Grands Climats, a touch of sea spray emerging with time. The palate is very well balanced with fine weight and a very satisfying, slightly honeyed texture. Yet, there is countervailing acidity that keeps driving this Pouilly-Fuissé forward to its stem ginger infused finish. Excellent.
